Record-breaking 37 Recalls in September 2018 – Seven Issued by Volkswagen, Six by Mercedes-Benz

In September 2018, the record-breaking 37 recalls were issued via the EU Rapex system concerning 50 models from 16 manufacturers. Volkswagen announced most recalls (7), while Mercedes-Benz only one less followed by Opel with four. Peugeot, Porsche, and Citroën reported three and at least one recall was reported by Dodge, Ford, Chrysler, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mini, Nissan, and Toyota. 12-year-old Volkswagen Passat was the oldest car recalled in September. There were also five new recalls for six motorcycles.

Overheating engines at Peugeot and Citroën, Ford may lose air conditioning (week 38/18)
An incorrect version of the engine software may cause PSA engines to overheat, which may cause an oil leak from the sump drain cap. Repeated Recall for VW Passat 2006 – 2008, The First Fix May Not Have Been Successful (week 36/18)
Repeated recalls are not so exceptional. Recently, Toyota recalled Corolla models from 2006 to 2013 for the second time because the passenger airbag inflator could be fitted in the wrong orientation when replaced.
