In 2018, Mercedes-Benz announced 36 recalls that affected 17 of its models, according to the Rapex notifications. How to check your VIN for free to see if any of them is also relevant to your car?
We will only mention a few of the many Mercedes-Benz´s recalls in this article. We offer a detailed overview of individual models and their defects in a table at the end of this page.
The most-recalled Mercedes-Benz models in 2018 were the E-Class and Sprinter (9), followed by the A-Class and the C-Class (5). The four recalls were announced with the V-Class/Vito.
In terms of the number of models included in one recall, Mercedes’s largest action in 2018 was the Alert with Rapex code A12/0852/18 from the 26th week due to a defect of the driver’s airbag gas generator. After activating the airbag, the released particles may penetrate the passenger compartment and cause an injury. This recall was issued with the A, B, C, E-Class, AMG GT, GLA and GLC models manufactured from January to March 2018.
Among the others, we mention also the missing welding points in the front wheel arch with A-Class produced between 9/2017 – 3/2018, or the faulty welding of the backrests of the driver’s and front passenger’s seats with the C-Class and the E-Class (4/2017 – 8 2017). Also noteworthy are the faulty pistons on the rear axle brake calipers with the CLE and GLS models produced from April to June 2018.
* We’ve divided all the recalls according to the models into the table at the end of the article.
