Which Mercedes-Benz models are being recalled in 2019?

56 recalls for 19 Mercedes-Benz models in 2019

In 2019, Mercedes-Benz announced 56 recalls involving 19 models through the EU Rapex system. The A-Class, E-Class and Sprinter were the most recalled models with 10 recalls for each.

We’ve sorted all the 2019 recalls according to the model into a table below.

10 out of the 56 Mercedes-Benz recalls were announced for the Sprinter Vans and 5 for the Vito and V-Class models. It is also worth noting that Mercedes recalls its cars because of every slightest defect. Two X-Class recalls are only due to incorrect data in the operating instructions manual, for example.

Among the larger actions, let’s mention the failure of the communication module for the emergency call system (eCall) with 12 models, or the possible cracks on the lock nut of the steering mechanism with the C-Class, E-Class and CLS. With the A-Class, the brake pedal may be poorly welded.

The E-Class had three recalls due to a poorly mounted rear spoiler with the estate version. The same defect is also reported with the SUV GLEs, where the window strips may also fall off the rear doors. Moisture can penetrate the GLE‘s interior through either a small hole in the floor or poorly routed air conditioning condensation hose.

The Mercedes flagship S-Class also didn’t avoid problems in 2019. In addition to the aforementioned e-Call system, there may be a problem with the seat belt lock sensors, or poorly attached A, B and C pillar covers. The first fully electric Mercedes-Benz EQC was also recalled.

We’ve written about some problems in more detail in separate articles.

Even if you don’t see your car in the table below, it doesn’t mean it was not the subject of a recall sometime in the past. The best way to verify whether a particular car is affected by some recall is to contact a Mercedes-Benz Authorized Service and ask for the VIN code to be checked not only for recalls but also for various Service bulletins.

It will only cost you your time because such information is provided for free. Free of charge are usually also all the repairs that are related to the recall. It doesn’t matter whether you are the first, second or even third owner. It doesn’t even matter whether you have been to Mercedes-Benz authorized service regularly, occasionally or never before.

If you wish to get fully comprehensive VIN lookup, with more than 80 data points about the history of the car, then we suggest going to HPI-Check, which provides information on a specific vehicle using also the vehicle registration number.

What is a VIN code?
The VIN code is a unique identification number that is embossed on the body of the car and shown on the ID card. In some cars, it can also be found in the frame under the windscreen. It is made up of a unique combination of 17 letters and numbers.
