56 recalls for 19 Mercedes-Benz models in 2019
In 2019, Mercedes-Benz announced 56 recalls involving 19 models through the EU Rapex system. The A-Class, E-Class and Sprinter were the most recalled models with 10 recalls for each.
We’ve sorted all the 2019 recalls according to the model into a table below.
10 out of the 56 Mercedes-Benz recalls were announced for the Sprinter Vans and 5 for the Vito and V-Class models. It is also worth noting that Mercedes recalls its cars because of every slightest defect. Two X-Class recalls are only due to incorrect data in the operating instructions manual, for example.
Among the larger actions, let’s mention the failure of the communication module for the emergency call system (eCall) with 12 models, or the possible cracks on the lock nut of the steering mechanism with the C-Class, E-Class and CLS. With the A-Class, the brake pedal may be poorly welded.
The E-Class had three recalls due to a poorly mounted rear spoiler with the estate version. The same defect is also reported with the SUV GLEs, where the window strips may also fall off the rear doors. Moisture can penetrate the GLE‘s interior through either a small hole in the floor or a poorly routed air conditioning condensation hose.
The Mercedes flagship S-Class also didn’t avoid problems in 2019. In addition to the aforementioned e-Call system, there may be a problem with the seat belt lock sensors, or poorly attached A, B and C pillar covers. The first fully electric Mercedes-Benz EQC was also recalled.
We’ve written about some problems in more detail in separate articles.
