24 recalls for twelve Volkswagen models in 2020
In 2020, Volkswagen announced 24 recalls for twelve models through the EU Rapex system.
Volkswagen recalled vehicles equipped with a three-cylinder 1.0 TSI engine manufactured between 2018 and 2020. VW Caddy, Golf, Golf Sportsvan, Passat, Polo, Sharan, Touran, T-Coss, T-Roc and Up models may be affected.
Four recalls have been announced with the Passat and Polo models, while the Amarok, Crafter, Golf, Tiguan, Touareg and Transporter T5/T6 have three campaigns each.
With VW Polo produced between September 2019 to February 2020, the brake booster may fail, while Touaregs from the end of 2019 may leak transmission oil, and vehicles manufactured between December 2016 to February 2019 may suffer steering failure.
Cracking brake pedals with some new VW models are not yet in the Rapex system, an article about the announced recall from the end of 2020 can be found below. The previous problem with the brake pedal with the Passat and Arteon models is not missing from the list.
For the second time, the carmaker tried to buy back so-called “pre-series models” with parts that do not have a valid homologation and are not correctly modified for street use.
All the recalls sorted by models are listed in the tables below.
