Six recalls for five Hyundai models in 2020
In 2020, Hyundai announced six recalls for five models through the EU Rapex system.
Hyundai recalled mainly older cars. With 2007-2012 i30, an electrical short may occur on the ABS/ESC module, which may deactivate these systems. At the same time, airbags can be inadvertently activated in the event of an impact on the lower part of the vehicle body.
Oil and humidity may penetrate the ABS control module’s power supply with Santa Fe models manufactured between 2006 and 2008. This would lead to a short circuit and electrical overload with a risk of fire.
The hybrid Hyundai Kona has two recalls. Defects have been reported to the Rapex system by the Portuguese authorities, where the car is sold under the name Kauai. Some high-voltage lithium-ion battery cells may be defective, as may the motor signal from the integrated electric brake.
