Three BMW recalls for old and new cars (week 11/24)

This week’s recalls:
– BMW 1, 3, X3 – airbags
– BMW 5 a 7 – driver assistants
– Peugeot 208 – rear axle

Overview of the recalls in the 11th week of 2024

Three recalls for five models of three manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 11 of 2024. Four recalls for seven models were announced by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall can be found in the European Safety Gate system at BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

BMW, Peugeot and Toyota are all issuing recalls via the KBA.

Three BMW recalls

Taking both of our regular sources together, we found the name BMW in there three times this week. Safety Gate presents a recall for the 2004 and 2005 BMW 1 Series, 3 Series and BMW X3, where the driver’s airbag can cause injury to the occupants. KBA‘s database contains a similar recall for the 1999 to 2006 BMW 3 Series (E46). In this case, the passenger airbags are involved. In total, over 450,000 older Bavarians are recalled. The other recall concerns the new BMW 5, 7, i5 and i7 series from 2022 and 2023. Nearly 57,000 cars may experience steering assist failures.

Poor welding at Opel and Peugeot

Last week, 462 Opel Corsas built in 2023 were recalled because of a poorly welded rear axle. This week, the same recall was announced for the 685 Peugeot 208s. Again, the axle can crack and impair the car’s handling.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
