This week´s recalls:
– Skoda – driver´s airbag
– Mazda – Skyactiv-X engine
– Renault Kangoo – Stop & Start
– Mercedes – spoiler, leaf springs
Eight recalls for 14 models of 6 carmakers were announced in the 47th week of 2019. Mercedes-Benz had three actions, while Dodge, Jeep, Mazda, Renault, and Skoda issued one recall each.
Skoda Auto
We already knew about the recall for six models of Skoda in July – we informed here. The Rapex added the recall for Fabia, Karoq, Kodiaq, Octavia, Rapid, and Superb this week. Due to a possible defect in the airbag´s housing, the driver airbag may not be activated correctly in the case of an accident with vehicles manufactured from January to August 2018.
Mazda
Almost all of the Skyactiv-X engines mounted in the Mazda 3 and Mazda CX-30 models have to go back to the workshop as they may stall while driving. With a revolutionary “petrol engine with the diesel capabilities”, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) can provide an inappropriate air/fuel ratio causing a lean condition. We also wrote about this problem in a separate article earlier.
Mercedes-Benz
Three recalls were announced via Rapex by Mercedes-Benz this week. With the E-Class Estate produced between 2016 – 2019, the rear spoiler could become completely detached from the vehicle at high speeds. The Sprinter vans manufactured from September 2018 to August 2019 may not have properly fitted rear leaf springs. With the smaller vans Vito (2014 – 2019), the coverings on the seat boxes with an integrated back-up battery may be missing. This will increase the risk of a short circuit or fire.
Other this week´s recalls
Renault Kangoo (2018 – 2019) – „Stop & Start“ system
Jeep Cherokee (2018) – airbags
Dodge RAM (2012 – 2018) – airbags
