This week’s recalls:
– Peugeot 308, 408, 508 a DS7 – untightened connections
– Kia Sorento – faulty fuel tank
– Ford a Lincoln – fire risk
– Mercedes Sprinter – towing bracket
Eight recalls for 10 models of seven carmakers were announced via Rapex in the 12th week of 2023. A further three actions have been published by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).
Two recalls have been announced by Ford, while DS Automobiles, Kia, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot and Volkswagen have one action each in Rapex – see the table at the end of the article. Citroën, BMW, DS and Opel are recalling through the KBA.

Improper tightening of various mechanical and electrical connections can lead to loss of vehicle control or interruption of propulsion in just under a hundred Peugeot 308, 408 and 508s built between August 2022 and January 2023. Around 50 DS7 Crossback SUVs can be similarly sloppily assembled. All of them are at risk of an accident or fire.
A Kia Sorento PHEV with a production date between 11 April and 10 May 2022 may have an incorrectly moulded fuel tank, which may leak fuel with a fire risk.
Mercedes Sprinters have been recalled in the past due to the possible rupture of the towbar. The new recall concerns vans from 2018 to 2020. Similarly, the recall for possible sunroof cover detachment on the VW Grand California extends a previously announced recall.
Individually imported American SUVs
US versions of the 2020 and 2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator large SUVs may catch fire due to a short circuit in the engine compartment. In Europe, only a few dozen individually imported cars are affected.
Other KBA Recalls
Some 20,000 BMW IX, IX1 and X1 SUVs are recalled because of a faulty driver’s airbag. About 12,000 Opelů Combos may have problems with lane-keeping assist. A faulty control unit in the French electric Citroën E-C4, E-Berlingo and E-DS3 can lead to loss of drive due to inaccurate data.
