Ford Focus with faulty seat belts, side window may fall out with Skoda Octavia (week 44/19)

13 recalls for 18 models of 8 carmakers were issued in the 44th week of 2019. Four recalls were announced by Mercedes-Benz, while Ford had three. Citroën (DS), Fiat, Lexus, Morgan, Skoda, and Toyota issued one recall each.

Ford

Ford Focus’s latest generation has been recalled for the fourth time. Previous recalls were related to the faulty brake pedal, rear door locks and front-wheel suspension – all of them can be found in our archive. This week, faulty seat belts with vehicles manufactured in May and June 2019 are added to the Rapex list. The same defect also occurs with the Ford C-Max.

Due to a defective airbag inflator, Ford recalls the Ranger and Everest models from 2014. The rear axle tie rods are defective and may break with the Ford Explorer from 2010 – 2017. This may lead to loss of control over the vehicle.

Skoda Octavia

For the second time in a short period, a smaller-scale recall has been announced for Skoda Octavia. It was recalled three weeks ago due to possible faulty springs, while this time due to faulty side window seals. It may loosen and the window may fall out. Vehicles produced in the period from 12 to 20 August 2019 should be checked.

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes recalls the GLE model (12 April – 29 June 2019) due to faulty welding of the fuel filler neck to the fuel container, the A-Class (1 – 25 April 2019) due to inclusions or cracks in the camber strut connection of the right-hand wheel carrier on the rear axle, and GLA model (6 6. – 23. 10. 2018) due to a defect in the rear center seat belt. With the Sprinter vans manufactured from March 2018 to January 2019, the rear leaf spring may break.

Toyota

With several Toyota models, the accessory seat cover kit may not be installed correctly causing the seat covers not to tear as designed in the event of an airbag deployment. This applies to Toyota Prius (2014 – 2019), Toyota Hilux (2014 – 2019), Toyota Auris (2014 – 2019) and Toyota C-HR (2014 – 2019).

Other recalls

DS3 Crossback (14 May – 14 September 2019) – The plastic layers of the fuel tank do not adhere correctly to each other and fuel can leak from the tank.

Fiat Ducato (March 14 – June 19, 2019) – The battery may not have been properly attached and could move spontaneously.

Lexus CT 200h (January 29 – March 7, 2019) – The damper may fail to keep the back door open.

Morgan 3-Wheeler (2011 – 2014) may have a poorly welded brake pedal.
