Cracks in the mounting of the driver’s seat with Skoda Karoq, Kodiaq, and VW Tiguan (week 35/19)

Six recalls for 10 models of 7 carmakers were announced in the 35th week of 2019. Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Opel, Skoda, and Volkswagen issued one recall each, while Mercedes-Benz had two.

Possible development of cracks in the mounting of the driver’s seat is reported through the Rapex system with Skoda Kodiaq and Skoda Karoq produced in January 2019. The same issue may occur with the Volkswagen Tiguan with the date of production between 4. 2. 2019 – 14. 2. 2019. Possible problems with the seats mounting have recently been also reported by other manufacturers – see the list under the SEATS tag in our archive.

Mercedes-Benz

The link above also includes the Mercedes Vito and V-Klasse. The screw connections of front swivel seat consoles could be defective with cars manufactured from January to April 2019. This may lead to an increased risk of injury in the event of an accident.

A small opening may have been melted into the floor due to incorrect welding of a weld stud with the Mercedes GLE produced between 27 June 2018 and 25 April 2019. Water may ingress into the right-hand side of the vehicle’s interior/footwell. Various electrical contacts (including for the internal combustion engine, the lighting and the windscreen wipers) could become wet.

Opel

With the Opel Movano, it will be necessary to check that the nuts on the rear axle are properly tightened. During production, they may not have been tightened with the correct torque in May and June 2018.

Airbags

Metal fragments can be released when the airbag deploys with the Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Challenger, Dodge RAM, Dodge Dakota and Chrysler 300/300C produced between 2009 – 2016.

Motorcycles

With the BMW S1000 RR manufactured between September 2018 to March 2019, the oil cooler tubes may be improperly moulded and there is a risk of oil leakage. Some riveted joints may be defective with the Suzuki Burgman 200 produced between August 2017 and January 2019. Motorcycle recalls can be found on our sister page moto-recalls.eu.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
