BMW is recalling due to seat belts, while Ford due to panoramic roof (week 19/23)

This week’s recalls:
– BMW – seatbelts
– Ford Kuga – panoramic roof
– Honda Civic – seat frame
– Toyota – EV drive fault

Five recalls for seven models of five carmakers were announced via Rapex in the 19th week of 2023. Another ten recalls were announced by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

BMW, Ford, Honda, Porsche, and Toyota have one recall each at Rapex this week – see the table at the end of the article. Citroen, Dodge, DS Automobiles, Hyundai, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot and Porsche are also recalling through the KBA.

The outer seat belts of the second row of seats may not work optimally in the BMW 2 Series and BMW X1 from 2021 to 2023. Nearly 50,000 cars are at risk of injury in the event of an accident.

Over 7,000 Ford Kugas built between April and October 2021 may have a faulty fixing for the glass of the panoramic roof, which may cause the panoramic roof to become detached when the vehicle is being driven. Ford recalled the Focus a week ago because of the same problem.

The seat frame may break in 1,657 Honda Civic and Civic Type R built between July and October 2022.

A fault in the air conditioning compressor can disable the powertrain of the Toyota ProAce and ProAce City electric vans. The recall is for 16,700 cars built between 2020 and 2022.

Porsche Panamera: Moisture penetration can lead to a fire

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.
