In 2018, Fiat announced four recalls that affected 3 of its models, according to the Rapex notifications. How to check your VIN for free to see if any of them is also relevant to your car?
Two recalls were announced by Fiat for the 500 L model. Both were published in the Rapex in March and both can result in the increased risk of fire. The first recall concerns vehicles produced between August 2012 and September 2017. The insulation of the electrical cable in the auxiliary heater may be damaged, which could result in a short circuit and a fire.
The second recall is for the Fiat 500 L with production date between June 2017 – January 2018. The heat shield on the underbody may cause wear to the fuel line. Fuel leakage can also lead to a fire here.
Problems were found also with another variant of the “five hundred”, the Fiat 500 X from the years 2015 – 2018. A faulty latch can cause the seatback to go suddenly fold forward. In the event of an accident, there is a greater risk of injury to passengers.
The fourth recall for the Fiat hit the Ducato van (5/2016 – 10/2017). The intercooler sleeve can become separated from the throttle body.
