19 recalls for 12 Audi models in 2020
In 2020, Audi announced 19 recalls involving 12 models through the EU Rapex system.
Audi announced its largest recall in May, affecting more than half a million mild-hybrid models A4, A5, A6, A7 and Q5. Moisture can penetrate the BSG (Belt-Driven Starter Generator), leading to a short circuit and overheating of the generator. Subsequent fires in the engine compartment are not excluded.
The Audi Q7, manufactured between the end of July and mid-November 2019, can also catch fire. A significant overheating may occur with the heating film used for the front camera on the windscreen after the ignition is switched on or at low temperatures. This may lead to a smouldering and increase the risk of the vehicle catching fire.
The Audi A8 and Q7 models had the most recalls (5) in 2020, while the Audi A4 and A6 models were recalled four times.
