Third recall for Karoq, fourth for Giulia and Stelvio (week 20/19)

Six recalls for 7 models of five carmakers were announced in the 20th week of 2019. Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Dodge, and Skoda had one recall each, while Mercedes-Benz issued two.

For the third time the Škoda Karoq appears in a Rapex´s list of dangerous products and for the second time, the fault concerns the rear seat headrests. The February recall was announced for vehicles manufactured from May to August 2018, while this week´s action concerns the cars that were produced between April and June 2018.

For Karoq, the fourth recall has been announced recently but it has not yet appeared in the Rapex alert system. It concerns vehicles equipped with 1.0 TSI engine and manual gearbox and we wrote about it last December – see the article “Skoda Karoq and Seat Ateca can also roll away at temperatures below 5°C“.

More Karoq´s problems

Alfa Romeo

The fourth recall was also announced for the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio models, where the cruise control software may be defective. Vehicles built between March 2016 and March 2019 could spontaneously accelerate. Mercedes-Benz

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van is also being recalled for the fourth time this year. After troubles with the towing device, defective welds on the chassis and the risk of fire due to the overheating relay, this time the sliding door is the reason for the recall. When the door is fully opened, sharp edges can be exposed, which increases the risk of injury.

We also recorded the third recall with the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup. A defective operating manual can cause the roof load to be exceeded if a canopy is subsequently fitted.

Dodge and Citroën

The universal joint on the front power transmission shaft may be defective and could break with Dodge Charger models produced from August 2014 to August 2018. The rear control-arm prop may be incorrectly fastened with the Citroën Mehari (2017 – 2018).
