This week’s recalls:
– Toyota Yaris – airbag
– Toyota Camry – seatbelt
In the first week of 2020, we saw only two of Toyota’s recalls.
With the Model year 2003 – 2005 Toyota Yaris, the vehicles might have been fitted with an inappropriate replacement airbag inflator. In the event of an accident, the airbag might not properly deploy, increasing the risk of injuries. A look at the Rapex archive shows that in September 2019 Toyota also recalled Yaris produced between 2001 – 2011 due to the airbags, while a similar recall in May 2019 related to Yaris from the production period 2010 to 2018.
The Model year 2019 Toyota Camry could have an incorrectly mounted spring in the webbing sensor locking mechanism in the rear dual mode-locking seatbelt assemblies. The spring might impair the locking of the seatbelt.
The Toyota Camry was also recalled in August 2019 along with other Toyota and Lexus models due to a possible failure of the brake booster pump motor. The braking assistance could be lost completely after several attempts to apply the brake pedal. This fault may occur with vehicles manufactured between late April to early June 2019.
