Renault Espace may lose its roof spoiler while driving

Renault is recalling 57,239 models of the fifth generation of the Renault Espace worldwide. The roof spoilers on these cars may not have been attached correctly.

The spoiler may become detached in motion, posing a risk to the following traffic, with vehicles manufactured between 1 January 2015 and 15 October 2018 at the Douai factory in northern France.

The roof spoiler must be inspected by an authorized service center and replaced if necessary. The whole operation should take between 20 – 60 minutes. The internal code of the recall is “0DDG”. The defect was noticed during the internal quality controls and Renault is not aware of any customer cases.

Btw, this defect has not been exceptional in recent times. A look at our archive shows that German premium brands have also recently been recalled due to the possible fall of the rear spoiler.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
