Towbars could break on Peugeot and Citroën SUVs, another recall for Mercedes GLB (week 19/21)

This week recalls:
– Peugeot, Citroën – tow bar
– Mercedes GLB – wheel-arch covers
– Renault Master, Nissan NV400 – fuel line
– Fiat 500 – steering

Eight recalls of eight manufacturers were issued for 10 models in the 19th week of 2021 through the Rapex system.

BMW, Citroen, Fiat, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo announced one recall each.

Nearly 3,500 French SUVs Peugeot 3008 and 5008, as well as nearly 2,500 related Citroën C5 Aircross, may have a poorly welded towbar. It could break when driving with a trailer attached. The recalled cars are those built between December 2016 and December 2020.

The Mercedes-Benz GLB was recalled last week due to a possible side spoiler on the boot lid falling off. This week it’s due to poorly attached front wheel arch covers. Those could also fall off while driving with cars manufactured between April 2019 and November 2020.

BMW i3s manufactured between 19 February 2021 and 5 May 2021 may have a problem with the control plates of the backrest recliner in the second row of seats, which may break. The backrest may not remain secure in the event of an accident with 1,282 small Bavarian electric cars. With 281 Fiat 500s, an unsuitable material is used for the steering gear’s steering rack, which could lead to a reduction in steering function with cars built between February and April 2021.

114,522 Renault Master vans from 2018 and 2019 may be at risk of fuel leaks and fire. Fuel lines can come into contact with the valve covers. The related Nissan NV400 also has a problem with the manufacturing tolerance of the fuel supply line. In this case, 8,292 cars are involved.

See the table below for all the recalls from this week.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
