Dodge announced 7 recalls involving 9 models in 2017 according to the Rapex database. RAMs were most frequently recalled, followed by the Durango models. The oldest recalled car was a 2003 Dodge Sprinter.
Recall due to issues with airbags was announced in May involving most of the models listed below. The risk of release of small metallic particles upon airbag deployment threatening the crew was identified as the cause for a recall. Challenger, Charger, Dakota, Durango, Magnum, and RAM owners were affected.
However, some of the cars had some other issues too. For example, RAM pick-ups may have a crack on the tie rod, while the Journey and Grand Caravan models may suffer from poorly wired steering wheel harness. If the insulation is damaged, there is a risk of a short-circuit and the airbag could deploy spontaneously.
