Tesla-over-the-air-recall-update

Volvo and Tesla resolve new recalls with over-the-air updates – OTA (week 24/24)

This week’s recalls:
– Volvo EX30 – on-board display
– Tesla – rear-view camera
– Alfa Romeo – high beam

Overview of the recalls in the 24th week of 2024

Four recalls for four models of four manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 24 of 2024. Seven recalls for nine models were announced via the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall can be found in the European Safety Gate system for Audi, Renault, Toyota and Volvo.

Alfa Romeo, Honda, Hyundai, Lexus, Subaru and Tesla are issuing recalls via the KBA.

Over-the-air updates – OTA

With more than 70,000 Volvo EX30s, a software error causes the test mode of the display after starting the vehicle. The remedy is to update the software via remote access with an over-the-air update – OTA. The same applies to three Tesla models where the rearview camera can fail. Tesla is “recalling” this way 23,227 Model 3s and 6,765 Model S and Model X cars built in 2022 and 2023.

Two Hyundai recalls

This week, the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt – KBA) issued information about two Hyundai recalls that we reported on earlier. Over 25,000 Hyundai Konas produced in 2023 and 2024 may be at risk of a short circuit in the battery wiring in the fuse box, which could cause a fire. Another 10,575 Kona and Elantra vehicles produced in 2023 may have a transmission defect that could cause the affected cars to slow down unexpectedly.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.
