Stellantis recalls 50,000 vans of four brands due to steering issues (week 5/24)

This week’s recalls:
– Citroen, Fiat, Opel, Peugeot – power steering
– Hyundai – engine failure
– Lexus – fuel pump

Overview of the recalls in the 5th week of 2024

Eight recalls for 13 models of seven carmakers were issued via EU Safety Gate in the 5th week of 2024. Six recalls for nine models have been published by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

Two recalls have been announced by Volkswagen via the European Safety Gate system, while Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Lexus, Opel and Porsche have one each.

Ford, Opel, Porsche and Renault are also recalling through the KBA.

Steering problems with Stellantis vans

The recall affects around 50,000 Citroën Jumper, Fiat Ducato, Opel Movano and Peugeot Boxer vans built in 2023. A faulty high-pressure line in the hydraulic power steering can lead to power steering failure. As we write in this article, the part numbers of the installed high-pressure line will be checked at an authorized workshop, and if the part numbers have the code T201 or T316 in white lettering, the parts will be replaced. If the leaking brake fluid comes into contact with hot parts, a vehicle fire cannot be ruled out.

Extended Hyundai recall

Hyundai has already recalled nearly 20,000 Kona and i40 model series cars in September 2023 due to a possible interruption in the oil supply to the engine and its sudden damage. In addition, these cars may also experience brake booster failure. In the new recall, 98,225 Tucson and i30 cars built between 2018 and 2020 are being recalled for repair due to the same issue. Last week we saw this recall on the KBA list, and this week it also appears on Safety Gate.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
