Reliability according to TÜV Report 2024 (4 – 5 years)
Last update 26. 11. 2024
TÜV Report 2024 for four- and five-year-old cars produced in 2018 and 2019 with links to recalls*.
Just like in the two- and three-year-old category, the VW Golf Sportsvan comes out on top among the four- and five-year-olds, but it’s no longer in Volkswagen’s lineup as of mid-2020. The VW T-Cross and VW T-Roc round out the top three. The Mercedes B-Class and Skoda Karoq break VW and Audi’s dominance of the top 10 in a shared seventh place.
Who would have thought that expensive limousines and luxury-class SUVs could be at the bottom of the table? For example, BMW’s 5/6 Series and X5/X6 prove it’s possible. Keeping company with the four BMW models, several Dacia and two VW Group MPVs are among the lowest-rated cars.
The TÜV Report includes all main technical inspection results from all TÜV companies in Germany – 10,2 million technical inspections (TIs) from July 2022 to June 2023. In addition to the percentage of failed TIs, it also tracks the average number of kilometres driven. It says nothing about the care and maintenance that owners give to their cars.
