Mercedes to recall 114.800 Sprinters only in the UK

Limited to the UK market remains a recall for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (platform 906) equipped with the OM651 diesel engine. 114.800 right-hand vans manufactured between October 2013 to June 2018 are brought into the workshop.

As part of the “NC3AKTU537” campaign, there is a check and if necessary, renewal of the glow plug system, which is used to control the glow plugs and the fuel filter heater. In addition, the workshop should add an additional cover – probably to protect against moisture. Without these measures, there is the threat of a short circuit and worst case scenario a vehicle fire.

Whether such fires have actually occurred, does not emerge from the notification. The manufacturer merely emphasizes that there were “incidents” only in parked vehicles.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
