Kia-recall-short-circuit

Kia recalls due to possible short circuit, Mazda due to paperwork misprint (week 40/24)

This week’s recalls:
– Kia – short circuit, speed assist
– Mazda – incorrect specification in the CoC
– Infiniti – cardan shaft

Overview of the recalls in the 40th week of 2024

Two recalls for six models of two manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 40 of 2024. Seven recalls for 11 models of six manufacturers were announced via the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall can be found in the European Safety Gate system for Kia and Seat.

Fiat, Infiniti, Kia, Koenigsegg, Mazda and Opel are recalling via the KBA.

Kia Picanto a Stonic

Kia is recalling 7,771 Picanto and Stonic cars due to a possible short in the exhaust gas circulation valve, which would cause the engine to shut down. The affected vehicles were built in January and February 2024. Another 6,000 Picanto cars may be at fault with the intelligent speed assist system, which does not warn drivers when they exceed the speed limit.

Incorrect specification in Mazda documents

The reason for the recall for the 13,162 Mazda 2 vehicles produced in 2023 is an incorrect specification of the version and the WLTP savings in the CoC. In addition, Mazda is recalling 889 CX-30 SUVs that have incorrect homologation number, weight, noise, and emissions data in the CoC.

The Cardan shaft may break

Cracks can appear on the poorly made driveshaft of three Infiniti models, which can lead to it breaking and thus losing drive. The recall affects 12,953 vehicles in the M30, Q50, and Q70 model lines built between 2009 and 2022.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.
