Hundreds of thousands of cars are recalled due to blind reversing camera (week 41/24)

This week’s recalls:
– Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Honda, Subaru – reversing camera
– Citroen, DS, Opel, Peugeot – emissions
– Opel, Toyota – springs

Overview of the recalls in the 41th week of 2024

Five recalls for 18 models of five manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 41 of 2024. Six recalls for 14 models of six manufacturers were announced via the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

One recall can be found in the European Safety Gate system for Citroën, DS Automobiles, Opel, Peugeot and Toyota.

Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Lexus, Opel and Seat are recalling via the KBA.

The failure of the reversing camera

Hundreds of thousands of cars are being recalled this week by Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep because of a possible defect in the rear-view camera. Not too long ago, Fiat, Ford, Mazda, Honda, Cadillac, Tesla, Subaru, Lexus, and Toyota were also called back to the dealership for the same problem. In several cases, the fault is linked to malfunctioning reversing lights and sensors. In the 2020, Audi Q7 SUV has also been recalled. But back then, it was a front camera that may have overheated and caught fire.

Emissions at Stellantis vehicles

For some Stellantis vehicles equipped with the 1.5 BlueHDi engine, code number DV5R E6.3, emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) exceed the legal limits. These include several Citroen, DS, Opel, and Peugeot models produced in 2022 – see table at the end of the article.

Rear springs also with Toyota

We recently reported on the recall for over 3,000 Peugeot and Citroën vans. The reason for the recall is incorrectly fitted rear springs, which can cause a deterioration in driveability. A related Fiat Scudo van has the same problem, and this week the Toyota ProAce has joined in.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
