Fire risk recalls reported by Honda, Mercedes and Porsche (week 16/24)

This week’s recalls:
– Mercedes-Benz – fire risk
– Porsche – fire risk
– Honda – fire risk

Overview of the recalls in the 16th week of 2024

Three recalls for 19 models of three manufacturers were issued via EU Safety Gate in week 16 of 2024. Three recalls for four models were announced by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

Honda, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen have one recall each in the European Safety Gate system.

Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche are issuing recalls via the KBA.

Risk of engine failure and fire with Mercedes

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 247,443 cars in 11 classes (see table at the end of the article) because of a faulty 80A fuse. Engine failure, impairment of the restraint system, or instrument cluster functions may occur, increasing the risk of accident, injury, and fire. Last week, Mercedes recalled 340,956 GLE and GLS SUVs due to a possible loose 48V ground cable under the passenger seat, which can also lead to a fire risk.

Extended Porsche Taycan recall

Porsche’s January 2024 recall for 858 electric Taycans built between 2020 and 2023 was extended this week with two more recalls. In total, over eight thousand cars may already be affected. The reason for the recall is again a cell fault in the high-voltage battery, which can lead to a short circuit and a fire.

Missing fuse with Honda CR-V

The battery cable connecting the battery to the fuse box is not equipped with a fuse. In the event of an impact, the cable could be damaged, short-circuited, and possibly cause overheating and fire. This affects 427,382 CR-V hybrids produced between 2018 and 2022.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
