Dacia-LPG-fire

Dacia and Renaults running on LPG may have poorly welded tanks; gas leaks, and fire risk (week 45/23)

This week’s recalls:
– Dacia and Renault – LPG tank
– Cupra – engine mounts
– Tesla – seat belt

Overview of the recalls in 45th week of 2023

Four recalls for ten models of four carmakers were issued via Rapex in the 45th week of 2023. Two more recalls were announced by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

Cupra, Dacia, Renault, Tesla and Toyota have one recall each at Rapex this week.

Citroën and Dodge are also recalling through the KBA.

LPG tank at Dacia and Renault

Improper welding of a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank can lead to gas leaking into the passenger compartment and causing a fire risk in some Dacia Duster, Logan and Sandero vehicles built between February and July 2023. The same problem can also occur with LPG-powered Renault Captur and Clios that rolled off the assembly line between February and June 2023.

Cupra engine mount

258 Cupra Formentor and Cupra Leon cars with a production date of 26/07/2023 – 7/08/2023 may have improper heat treatment of the engine mounts. Their rupture would affect driving stability and increase the risk of an accident.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
