BMW-7-Series-front-seats

Some BMW 7 and i7 series have poorly welded front seats (week 36/23)

This week’s recalls:
– BMW 7 and i7 – front seats
– Polestar – front suspension bearing
– Stellantis Vans – urea injector

Overview of the recalls in 36th week of 2023

Three recalls for 11 models of six carmakers were announced via Rapex in the 36th week of 2023. Seven more recalls were announced by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

BMW, Citroen, Fiat, Opel, Peugeot and Polestar have one recall each at Rapex.

Audi, Chrysler, Ford, Land Rover, Nissan and Toyota are also recalling through the KBA.

The front seat of a BMW

The welding of the front seat structure is defective in 1,357 BMW 7 Series and BMW i7 limousines manufactured between September 2022 and January 2023. In the event of an accident, the joint could fail and compromise the restraint system, increasing the risk of injury.

With 236 Polestar 2 electric vehicles produced at the end of December 2022, the front wheel suspension bearing may become loose, which could affect the handling of the vehicle and cause a risk of an accident.

This week’s recall for Stellantis vans is an extension of an earlier recall we wrote about in the article Stellantis recalls over one million cars; 34 models of Citroen, DS, Fiat, Opel and Peugeot affected.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
