17 Citroën recalls in 2018

In 2018, Citroën announced 17 recalls that affected 13 of its models, according to the Rapex notifications. How to check your VIN for free to see if any of them is also relevant to your car?

Citroën‘s biggest problem in 2018 was the overheating of the engines. The French carmaker recalled its C4 Picasso, C4, DS4, and C5 during the 14th week of 2018 due to this reason. The control unit software was an incorrect version, which led to errors in the cooling strategy and a malfunction of the engine’s “high temperature” warning system.

Tip: Check the vehicle’s history by VIN

The most recalled Citroën was the C4 Aircross in 2018, which had a total of five recalls. In February, it was recalled due to a possible malfunction of the engine control unit relay and due to a defective internal component of the door locks, which could be opened while driving. In June, it was found that a problem with the fifth door could cause it to fall from the open position. The parking brake was cause for the next two recalls.

Three recalls were announced for the Citroën C-Crosser from 2007 to 2012. First because of leakage into the windscreen’s wiper motor, which could result in its failure, the second due to the sunroof glazing becoming detached and the third due to the unsuitable design of the dynamic tensioner of the accessory belt.

Other causes for recalls were due to the cylinder-housing oil gallery plug which may not have been correctly tightened, the deformation of the tow hitch bracket or airbag problems.
