In 2024, a total of 249 recalls involving 256 models from 41 brands were reported to the European Safety Gate system, either by the carmakers themselves or by the regulatory authorities.
Recalls are official measures that car manufacturers are legally obliged to take if they find that their vehicles may pose a risk to safety, health or the environment.
As in previous years, at the beginning of 2025 we have compiled a comprehensive analysis of the past 12 months, which you can find in our article Car Recalls Full Year 2024: Mercedes, BMW and Ford on top. Who’s next?
The mentioned article also includes data from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt – KBA), according to which as many as 387 recalls have been announced for 258 models from 44 brands in 2024.
If you don’t want to read and search the whole text, you can see below the list of cars with the most recalls in the Safety Gate system. For some frequently recalled models, several generations may be affected. Recalls for cars that are ten years old or older are no exception.
If you would like to search for recalls specific to a particular make and model, you can find them here.
