The recall under internal code 69Y9 includes the Fabia, Karoq, Kodiaq, Octavia, Rapid and Superb models. For safety reasons, the steering wheel airbag must be replaced as soon as possible.
3.367 Skoda cars produced between January to August 2018 may have been fitted with defective driver’s airbags, which may not inflate quickly enough in case of its activation. Therefore, it may not provide full protection to the driver in the event of an accident.
“The repair is free for the customer and takes about half an hour,” Zbynek Straskraba, the Skoda-Auto spokesman confirmed for Car-Recalls.eu. “Until the repair is completed, the owner may continue to use the vehicle. But the airbag replacement should be done without delay,” he added.
