Volkswagen Touareg: The HV battery may overheat during charging

Volkswagen is recalling 12,352 vehicles of the Touareg model series manufactured between 27. 9. 2018 and 21. 8. 2024. The recall is due to the cell modules of the high-voltage battery which may overheat during charging. There is a risk of fire.

At an authorised workshop, the software for the high-voltage battery is being updated to improve its self-diagnostic capabilities. If an anomaly is detected, a warning light (battery symbol) will be displayed in the instrument cluster alongside the driver message ‘On-board electrical system: fault! Please visit a service centre”. At the same time, the battery’s charging capacity will be automatically reduced until the fault is rectified.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “15666R“. The internal manufacturer code is “93FK“.
