Volkswagen recalls over 1,2 million cars due to the EGR system

Volkswagen is recalling 1,274,761 vehicles of various model series (see below) manufactured between 2009 and 2015 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that the EGR reduction via ambient temperature does not comply with Regulation (EC) No. 715/2007 and the ECJ judgements of July 2022 (so-called ‘thermal window’ between 15°C and 33°C).

In an authorised workshop, the software is updated.

The internal manufacturer codes are “23M5, 23N3, 23M3, 23M7, 23M4“.
