Volkswagen recalls nearly 15-year-old cars due to airbags

Volkswagen is recalling 182,785 Crafter, Fox, Golf, Polo, Vivo and Up! vehicles built between 2008 and 2014 to workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is a fault in the gas generator of the driver’s airbag, which can lead to uncontrolled deployment and the release of metal fragments that could injure the occupants when the airbag is deployed.

The front airbag on the driver’s side of the affected vehicles will be replaced in the workshop.

The KBA monitors the recall under the reference number “013344” and the internal manufacturer code is “69EJ“.
