Volkswagen recall: Fault in the driver’s airbag gas generator

Volkswagen is recalling 142,672 Eos, Golf, Passat, Polo and Sharan models built between 2008 and 2014. The reason for the recall is a defect in the gas generator of the driver’s airbag, which can lead to uncontrolled deployment and the release of metal fragments that can injure the occupants.

In the workshop, the front airbag or its generator is replaced on affected vehicles. The KBA monitors the measure under the reference number “012963” and the internal manufacturer code is “69EJ (69AF)“.
