Nine models of seven brands were recalled at the 25th week of 2018 through the Rapex system. Two recalls were announced by Mercedes-Benz, one reported by Volkswagen, Peugeot, Citroen, Nissan, Honda, and Dodge.
Volkswagen has already announced problems with the corrosion of the gas tanks of its gas-fueled models. In March 2017 he recalled Passat, Touran, and Caddy EcoFuel models produced from June 2010 to October 2013, followed by the T5 Multivan/Transporter models produced in the autumn of 2005. In the latest recall, the T5 affected production range extends between 2005 and 2015.
Volkswagen is not the only one to recall CNG cars. Opel announced in 2014 Zafira CNG (2011 – 2014) recall due to a defective CNG tank fill-stop valve, and in 2016 a defective O-ring on the valve of a CNG pressurized container were reported at the Opel Zafira (2011 – 2016). Corrosion of the multi-valve for the natural gas system can occur also with Ford Transit CNG (2003 – 2011), Ford C-Max CNG (2003 – 2011) and Ford Focus CNG (2003-2011).
Cracking fifth door struts at the Peugeot 4008 and Citroën C4 Aircross (2011-2016) is also not the first time in the Rapex database. They were summoned back in November 2017, and again in June 2018. There is a risk of injury to persons standing under the open rear door, which may fall suddenly. The malfunction also occurs with the related Mitsubishi ASX (2010-2014).
Related to Nissan NV400 is a Renault Master – and their defects are also very similar. Due to a possible steering failure, the Renault Master (2016-2017) were recalled in April 2018, and the Nissan NV400 (2016-2017) is now being added.
Between the 2016 and 2017, also the newly recalled Honda Civic is produced. There is no side vent in the backrest of the front seats. In the event of an accident, this may prevent deployment of the side airbag.
Due to the possible oil leak, some owners of Mercedes and Dodge will have to go to the authorized car repair shop. For the American cars produced in early 2017, an oil cooler tube may be defective – it concerns the Dodge Charger (2017) and Dodge Challenger (2017). At the Mercedes GLE (2017) the connectors for the transmission oil cooler hoses may not have been correctly moulded. Mercedes also recalls a Class A models from May 2017 for which the windscreen may be poorly glued.
