Opel-recall-nox

Two recalls for three Opel and Vauxhall models, DS also recalled twice (week 6/25)

This week’s recalls:
– Opel, Vauxhall – emissions, tyres
– DS – fuel leak, tyres
– Ford Transit – rear axle
– BMW, Seat – airbags

Overview of recalls in the 6th week of 2025

Eight recalls for 10 models of five brands were published via EU Safety Gate in week 6 of 2025. One recall for five models of one manufacturer was issued by the German Motor Vehicle Authority (KBA).

Two recalls can be found this week in the European Safety Gate system for DS, Opel and Vauxhall, while Ford and Seat have one recall each.

Through the KBA, BMW is recalling.

Increased NOx emissions

Last week, we reported on the safety recall of several models of Citroen, DS and Peugeot due to possible exceedances of the legal limits for nitrogen oxides. This week Opel and Vauxhall join the list with their models. Once again, the software that processes data from the electronic engine control unit (ECU) is to blame. Possible tyre damage during the production of Opel and DS vehicles is not new to our reviews either. We wrote about it three weeks ago.

Rear axle

On some Ford Transit vans manufactured in Turkey between September 2023 and April 2024, the rear axle may not have been sufficiently lubricated, which can lead to seized bearings and locking of the rear wheels.

Airbags

Another BMW recall for driver airbags has been announced for 364,275 vehicles of the 1, 3, M3, X1 and X3 model series produced between 2008 and 2010. This is again due to a defect in the driver’s airbag inflator, which can lead to uncontrolled deployment and release of metal fragments. These can injure occupants when the airbag is activated. The same cause and consequences have been attributed to the Seat recall for 3,326 Seat Exeo vehicles manufactured between 18 June 2008 and 9 July 2013.

Details on this week’s Rapex recalls can be found in the table below.

We write about the KBA recalls in the following articles:

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
