Two Ford Mustang recalls due to steering (repeated) and clutch

First published 23. 7. 2024, last update 19. 5. 2025 – see below.
Ford is recalling 2,409 Mustang vehicles manufactured between 2022 and 2023 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that the polarity error in the secondary digital torque sensor can lead to oscillation of the steering wheel during steering if the primary steering angle sensor fails independently.

In an authorised workshop, the steering gear software is updated if the torque sensors are incorrectly calibrated.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14078R“. The internal manufacturer code is “24S44“.

Update 19. 5. 2025
In May 2025, recall with code 25S11 was added to the German Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) database due to an incomplete software update relating to recall 24S44. A total of 342 Mustangs manufactured between 24 October 2022 and 31 March 2023 require additional servicing.

The second recall is for 716 Mustangs produced between 2022 and 2024. An unsecured nut can cause the clutch pedal to fail, resulting in a loss of gearshift and engine stalling. If the clutch line is lowered, it can melt on hot components, and fluid can escape and ignite.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “13983R“. The internal manufacturer code is “24S36“.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact a dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
