Several Toyota models: The eCall emergency call service may malfunction

Toyota has launched a recall for an unknown number of several model series. The reason is a possible software error, which may cause the eCall emergency call service to malfunction. The Aygo, bZ4X, Camry, C-HR, Corolla, Highlander, Hilux, Mirai, Prius, RAV 4, and Yaris models produced between 2020 and 2023 are affected. Of these, around 12,000 units are registered in Germany.

The remedy is to be provided by a software update over the air from Toyota with an SMS to the relevant vehicles, which automatically changes the telematics settings in the background. If this does not work, a check must be done at a specialist workshop.

The KBA is monitoring the measure under the reference number “013225” and the internal manufacturer code is “23SD-101“.
