Skoda is recalling 3,583 Fabia and Roomster vehicles manufactured between 2008 and 2015 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that the vehicles contain unauthorised defeat devices in the emission control system.
The engine control unit software will be updated at an authorised workshop.
Emissions back on the agenda
This is the renewal of one of the many recalls, coded ‘23R6‘, which saw around 287,000 Skodas recalled in Germany alone between 17 June 2016 and 15 June 2017. Worldwide, the recall affected more than 1.2 million cars from the Fabia, Roomster, Rapid, Octavia, Yeti and Superb model ranges.
The VW emissions scandal came to light in 2015. Millions of Volkswagen Group diesel cars equipped with the EA189 and its successor, the EA288 engine, contained illegal software designed to manipulate emissions measurement results.
We also recently reported on a mysterious voluntary technical measure, code 23AX, which is also linked to this scandal.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference number “14602R“. The internal manufacturer code is “23FG“.
