Skoda recalls a further 138,000 older cars for driver’s airbag

Skoda is recalling 85,988 Citigo, Fabia, Octavia, Praktik, Rapid, Roomster, Superb, and Yeti vehicles manufactured between 2012 and 2014 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is a fault in the gas generator of the driver’s airbag that can lead to uncontrolled deployment. The release of metal fragments can injure the occupants when the airbag is deployed.

Update 29. 9. 2025
A further 138,441 cars are to be recalled by Škoda in September 2025. The models affected are the Citigo, Fabia, Octavia, Rapid, Superb and Yeti series, all of which were produced between 7 April 2014 and 5 June 2016. The reason for the recall is once again a faulty driver’s airbag gas generator, which, when activated, can cause uncontrolled deployment and release of metal fragments that can injure passengers.

The German authorities have so far confirmed one incident of damage to persons and property.

At an authorised workshop, the driver’s airbag is replaced.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference numbers “14025R, 15342R“. The internal manufacturer codes are “69KH, 69PB“.
