Every year, the German Automobile Club ADAC publishes a Reliability Index that rates the reliability of different car models based on the number of roadside assistances. The ADAC 2025 Index evaluates more than 3.6 million “Yellow Angel” calls in the previous year.
Among subcompacts, you need to be careful when buying used, especially with the Opel Meriva (2016-2017) and the Toyota Yaris (2021-2022) (pictured) and Yaris Cross (2022).
On the other hand, as the table below shows, the Audi A1, BMW i3, Dacia Sandero, Mazda 2, Mazda CX-3, Mini, Renault Zoe, Seat Arona, Skoda Fabia, Suzuki Swift, Suzuki Vitara and VW Polo all perform very well in terms of reliability.
