Insufficient pressing of parts in the high pressure fuel pump can cause movement of the cylinder in the fuel pump through which the piston moves. This can create wear between the cylinder and the pump body, resulting in increased stress on valves and/or movement valve seat inside the pump body. This increased stress can cause a crack in the weld of the affected valves, which could lead to a fuel leak, increasing the risk of fire.
The Toyota Corolla vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 18 December 2018 and 8 November 2022.
The vehicles in question were subject to an earlier recall announced in October 2023 and June 2024 for the high-pressure fuel pump installed in the 8NR and 8AR engines.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?
Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact a Toyota dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.
If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.
