The gas generator of the front airbag may be defective. This can result in uncontrolled inflation and the release of metal fragments when the airbag is activated, causing injury to the occupants of the vehicle.

The Ford Ranger pickups affected by this recall were manufactured between 1 January 2004 and 31 December 2006.
