An incorrect value may be reported when the data is processed by the vehicle due to faulty software in the electronic engine control unit (ECU). This can cause nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions to exceed legal limits. Excessive NOx emissions are a risk to the environment.

The Citroen C4 vehicles affected by this recall were manufactured between 20 July 2022 and 9 October 2023.
