Peugeot and Citroën recalls 11 years old cars due to wiper failure (22/18)

At the 22nd week of 2018, four new recalls were added to the Rapex database. Three of them concern French cars and one recall were announced by Mercedes-Benz. Since June, we have also been tracking motorcycle recalls, whose list has been expanded by the Suzuki brand this time.

Peugeot 4007 and Citroën C-Crosser are related models produced in the years 2007 – 2012. All without exception have a problem with the windscreen wipers. Water can enter the vent mechanism for the front windscreen-wiper motor, which could result in the failure because of internal corrosion. The problem is so serious that both carmakers are actually recalling virtually the whole production of both models.

Their compatriot Renault Master (2015-2016) is recalled this time because of the wrong software in the onboard engine diagnostics system, which could lead to the engine not functioning correctly. We must not forget that the Master was recalled also in April, because of a poorly tightened steering column cover.

The seals on the front doors around the window of Mercedes-Benz E-Class (2017) may allow water to enter the inner door area. As a result, the pinch protection on the electric window regulators could be impaired or there could be a short circuit leading to a fire.

Motorcycles

Since June 2018, we are also focusing on motorcycle recalls in our new moto-recalls.eu webpage. At the 22nd week, the Suzuki GSX-R 125 (2016-2018) and the Suzuki GSX-S 125 (2016-2018) are recalled, both due to the risk of loosening the engine mounting bolts and breaking the frame.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
