Opel recalls three models – Crossland X, Grandland X and Insignia (17/18)

All three recalls, that were announced through the Rapex system at the 17th week of 2018, concern Opel and its current models.

The first recall highlights the incorrectly routed anchor point of the outer rear seat-belts at the model year 2018 Opel Insignia. In case of a frontal collision, this could lead to a higher load than that for which the belt system is designed, or allow the passenger to slip underneath the seat-belt.

The Insignia was recalled twice also in 2017. Once due to water infiltration into the boot control module with the risk of a short circuit and once due to the airbags.

The second recall concerns the tow-bar equipped Opel Grandland X. The screws may not have been tightened properly and may become loose. As a result, the tow-bar may detach. Vehicles manufactured between 8 November 2017 and 19 January 2018 should be inspected.

This is already the second Grandland X recall this year. The first one affects vehicles with a 1.6L B16DTH engine (LDI). Oil can enter the intake circuit and damage the engine.

The Opel Crossland X, manufactured on September 15, 2017, may have poorly screwed rear wheel hubs. As a consequence, the rear wheels could become loose. Like the Grandland X, the Crossland X with 1.6 CDTI engines may have the same problem with the oil inlet to the intake circuit, which is highlighted by the January 2018 recall.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact an dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
