Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: Faulty spring clamps on the rear axle

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 1,655 Sprinter vans manufactured in 2023 to authorised workshops worldwide. The reason for the recall is that non-hardened spring clamps on the rear axle can lead to insufficient preload force, which can cause the rear axle to lean. There is a risk of accidents due to impaired tracking. In an authorised workshop, the spring clamps are replaced.

Another 5,257 2023 Sprinters may have welding points on the reinforcement in the right B-pillar that do not meet specifications. These could loosen over time and the belt forces may not be transferred to the B-pillar as intended. There is an increased risk of injury in the event of an accident.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recalls under the reference numbers “14065R” and “13808“. The internal manufacturer codes are “3594805” and “3190102 (VS3VERSAU)“.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact a dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
