Mazda CX-60: Both the combustion engine and the electric motor can be switched off

Mazda is recalling 29,470 CX-60 (KH) e-Skyactiv PHEV built between 2022 and 2023 to workshops worldwide. In some plug-in hybrid vehicles, software errors can cause the temperature of the PHEV system inverter to rise and exceed a threshold value. In this case, both the combustion engine and the electric motor can be switched off in failsafe mode with little or no warning. It is also possible that the images from the front, side and reversing cameras flicker and in some cases are no longer shown on the centre display monitor.

As a corrective measure against the engine shutdowns, the control software of the powertrain control module (PCM) and the engine control module (ECM) will be updated to the current production status in the workshop. In addition, the reprogramming of the VMC (View Monitor Control Module) to the current production status is intended to rectify the problem with the monitor display error.
