Incorrectly evaluated low UREA consumption with some Peugeot, Citroen and Opel models

Peugeot is recalling 40,051 vehicles of the 2008 and 508 model series manufactured between 2022 and 2023. The reason for the recall is a faulty engine control unit software that causes the value for low UREA consumption to be evaluated incorrectly.

For the same reason, Citroen is recalling 29,112 vehicles of the C-Elysee, C3 Aircross, and C4 model series and Opel 17,516 Corsa and Crossland models. All of them were produced between 2022 and 2023.

At an authorised workshop, the engine software is updated.

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) monitors the recall under the reference numbers “14721R, 14720R, 14727R“. The internal manufacturer codes are “MQ6“ for Citroen, “MQ9“ for Peugeot, and “KL5“ for Opel.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact a dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
