Mercedes-Benz-sunroof-glass

Inadequate bonding of the sliding glass roof with several Mercedes

Mercedes is recalling the C-Class, CLC, CLK, CLS and E-Class models to workshops worldwide. The recall has been known since 2020 and has now been extended to 425,913 vehicles. In Germany, 161,979 vehicles are affected. The reason for the measure is a bonding that does not comply with the specification, which can cause the sliding glass sunroof to detach.

In the workshop, the glass adhesions are checked and replaced if necessary. This can take up to 30 minutes or several hours in the case of a replacement. The KBA is investigating the recall under reference number “012412”, and the internal code is “7891009”.

What should an owner do if there's a recall?

Please note that the recall may not apply to all vehicles produced in a given period. If you think your car might be affected, you should immediately contact a dealer or workshop officially authorised to perform repairs on behalf of the manufacturer and ask for the details. You can use our sample request text. After reporting the vehicle's VIN code, you will find out if the defect is present on your car, or if it has already been resolved by the previous owner if the car was purchased second-hand.

If you wish to know more about the eventual problems of a specific car (e.g. real mileage, potential traffic accident damages, odometer rollback, repairs, etc.), in that case, we suggest going to this page.

Do you know the year Your car was made? You most likely don't.
